London, Sep 18 – Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl says he hates Courtney Love more than anybody else in the world.Grohl was the former drummer for the legendary rock band Nirvana and has fought with Love in public once calling her ‘ugly f***ing b***h’ while performing. Dailysnack.com reports that he now hates her more than anybody else.

London, Sep 23 www.earthtimes.org – Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl is not happy being called the late lead singer Kurt Cobain’s ‘sideman’.The 38-year old insists his role was pivotal to the band’s success. Grohl believes he and bassist Krist Novoselic were equally important in contributing to the success of the band. He is tired of being overshadowed by Cobain, reports contactmusic.comHe said: ‘I was actually Nirvana’s fifth drummer and if you listen to the recordings with the previous guys you will notice it sounds different. Krist and I have been called sidemen to Kurt for f**king years – that lawsuit is done with, y’know? We have been called hired guns and I just laugh.

London, Nov 1 www.earthtimes.org – Rocker Dave Grohl still dreams about the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994.Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana but is now a lead singer for Foo Fighters. Contactmusic.com reports he has regular dreams of Cobain hiding from him.He said: ‘I still dream about Kurt. Every time I see him in a dream, I’ll be amazed and I get this feeling that everyone else thinks he’s dead.

Former NIRVANA Bassist Talks Upcoming DVD

The Pulse of Radio reports: Reclusive NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic told NME.com that he’s looking forward to the DVD premiere of the band’s “MTV Unplugged in New York” performance, 14 years after it was first filmed and recorded. The disc will feature both the original broadcast and the complete, unedited show, newly remixed in 5.1 digital surround sound. Novoselic said, “The new 5.1 sound really opens it up and it gave me a new appreciation for the songs. You can hear what each instrument is doing. It really invites you in and I’m sure everyone will enjoy it in a new way. I’d really like to re-release (NIRVANA‘s 1993 album) ‘In Utero’ in that way at some point.”

The full, unedited version runs 66 minutes. The DVD will also feature four songs from the band’s sound check, previously unavailable behind-the-scenes footage and a 20-minute documentary.

Pity the fool hired to scribble the DVD-jacket copy for Kurt Cobain: About a Son: The film sounds horrific on paper. It’s a 92-minute experimental documentary about the endlessly lionized “alternative” icon that doesn’t include a guitar lick of his music, a testimonial from anyone personally acquainted with the man, or even Cobain’s likeness — that is, until the final scene. Plus, the film’s director is AJ Schnack, whose most notable credit is a rock doc about They Might Be Giants. It’s like entrusting James Dean’s legacy to a Don Knotts biographer. Never mind that the producer is fond of saying “The whole idea of this film is not to look back at Kurt, it’s to look into Kurt.” Rape me, my friend.

Krist Novoselic– the other other guy from Nirvana– has put the bass (that he nowadays plays in the current incarnation of Flipper) down for a spell, picked up the keyboard, and plunged headlong into the dangerous world of blogging.

The politically-minded Novoselic posted the first of his bloggy musings for Seattle Weekly on the publication’s website this week. Topics covered? Well, Nirvana, whose “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video was recently profiled for a special on the Fuse network. As Novoselic tells it, he agreed to be interviewed for the special, but was miffed about the edited quotes that resulted and the relative lack of air time reserved for himself and other guy from Nirvana Dave Grohl.

Nirvana ‘Unplugged’ re-release is a joy to rediscover

Fourteen years ago this week marks another key milestone on Seattle’s marvelous map of rock n’ roll music.

Nov. 18, 1993 was the seminal “MTV Unplugged” performance of Nirvana, one of the most moving and personal performances the band ever gave outside of the Emerald City, and arguably a performance that helped solidify Kurt Cobain’s legacy as both a songwriter and performer.

The acoustic set resulted in an amazing Grammy-winning, platinum-selling CD, set the stage for a host of “Unplugged” shows to follow by artists who wanted similar exposure, and showed Cobain in all his fine Seattle style back then: ratty lime-green sweater, unruly, unwashed hair, Chuck Taylor tennis shoes and self-deprecating, deadpan humor.
